Dillon Moran launches campaign for Saratoga Springs Commissioner of Accounts.

 With more than 25 years of business experience managing money, people and projects, the lifelong Saratoga Springs resident has been endorsed by current Commissioner of Accounts John Franck, who is not running again this year, according to the Saratogian. “I’ve known Dillon for over four years. He’s the right choice for Commissioner of Accounts,” said John Franck, who is not running for re-election. “I feel strongly that we need someone in that office who understands the job. His experience in business, risk assessment, management and mitigation is what we need now.”

This year’s local election for Saratoga Springs City Council and County Supervisor will be November 2, 2021.The ballot will have a full slate of Democratic candidates on Row A at the top of your ballot. Candidates are Tara N. Gaston and Shaun Wiggins for County Supervisor; Ron Kim for Mayor; Dillon Moran for Commissioner of Accounts; Dominique Yermolayev for Commissioner of Public Works; Minita Sanghvi for Commissioner of Finance; Jim Montagnino for Commissioner of Public Safety.

Gov. Cuomo announces Race Course will open at near-full capacity.

Waiting for an excuse to get your COVID-19 vaccine? Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this week that fully vaccinated fans will be allowed to attend the 2021 summer meet in reserved sections, including the backyard picnic area, with no social distancing required. Non-vaccinated attendees will be limited to a small number of hospitality and seating areas where they are required to observe social distancing guidelines and to wear a face covering at all times during their day at Saratoga Race Course.

The signers are reputed to include former governors Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania and Christine Todd Whitman of New Jersey as will former Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters and former Representatives Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, Barbara Comstock of Virginia, Reid Ribble of Wisconsin and Mickey Edwards of Oklahoma. They seek to loosen the stranglehold of former President Donald Trump on the party, as evidenced by the vote this week to strip Representative Liz Cheney of her rank because she continues to insist the 2020 elections were fair and without fraud.…

Rep. Tonko urges local restaurants to register for new COVID relief fund.

The fund holds $28.6 billion and will provide restaurants and eligible businesses with money equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss, up to $10 million per business, according to the Daily Gazette. The relief does not have to be repaid, provided that the funds are put toward eligible uses by March 11, 2023. “Our Capital Region’s independent restaurants are cornerstones of our communities, yet they are among the businesses hit hardest by this pandemic and most in need of financial help,” Tonko said. Eligible restaurants can enroll through the Small Business Administration’s Restaurant Revitalization Award Portal.…
