Kolligian said the word “anti-racism” is harsh and needs further explanation; Erika Borman found it “quite concerning” according to the Times-Union. Board member Natalya Lakhtakia responded that “racism is harsh”.
According to the Times-Union, Saratoga Springs police officer Thomas Sartin, a former Republican who recently switched to WFP, is the top petitioner in a lawsuit argued by former GOP congressman and Donald Trump supporter John Sweeney that would block Democrats, including Tara Gaston of Saratoga Springs and Cynthia Young of Malta, from the WFP ballot line. Sartin is currently leading the effort to collect signatures to put Republican-friendly candidates on the WFP line.
Saratoga County and City Democrats mourn the loss of our friend and endorsed Sheriff candidate Jerry Holland. Jerome Holland, a retired state trooper who lived in Clifton Park, died suddenly on Sunday, April 11, his obituary noted. The 64-year-old had a 35-year career with the police as a senior investigator. After retiring, he worked for the state Senate as its sergeant-at-arms and then as an office manager at Guarded Exchange in Albany. Holland would have been the first Black candidate to run for sheriff in Saratoga County. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.
