Saying he wants to remove partisan politics and cultural wars from the District Attorney’s office, former county prosecutor Robert “Bobby” Logan said he will seek the job as the county’s top lawyer. The candidate announced his bid to a large crowd of Democrats on Friday afternoon at the Milton Community Center.
“I am here as a different kind of candidate not encumbered by politics, independent-minded, a person of integrity with a strong work ethic,” said Logan, who served as an assistant district attorney under Karen Heggen. “I’m also an experienced prosecutor… Keeping Saratoga as a safe place is paramount to me. I have shown I can prosecute all types of crime to keep our county the highly desirable place it is. There should not be a Republican or Democratic way of prosecuting crime — there is only the right way. … I am running to take the politics out of law enforcement.”
The Saratoga Springs resident, who got his start prosecuting crimes in the Bronx, will face Brett Eby, the Republican and Conservative choice in the November general election. They are vying for the seat held by Heggen, who spent 11 years as the county’s district attorney and chose to step down on Aug. 1.
