Thank you Hank.

On Monday, February 24, Hank Kuczynski conceded the special election for Department of Public Works Commissioner. We thank Hank for running, thank him for upholding Democratic values, and wish the best to incoming Commissioner Chuck Marshall.

Here is Hank’s statement:

To the Citizens of Saratoga Springs,
On October 29th I was appointed by the City Council to fill the vacant Public Works Commissioner position. Then, on January 28th I participated in a Special Election as a write-in candidate for the Commissioner of Public Works to fill out the term until the end of 2025.
I received more votes for a total of 1,769 but lost the election. A judge invalidated ballots based on legislative intent versus voter intent, what a novel idea!
I have reviewed the decision with counsel and an election attorney, the expensive cost to mount an appeal precludes me from moving forward.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the Commissioner of Public work for the City of Saratoga Springs. I wish the best to the department’s hardworking employees who are the backbone of the City, and to the incoming administration.
Sincerely,
Hank Kuczynski
