During the Jan. 18 City Council meeting, Saratoga Springs Mayor Ron Kim unveiled a reorganization plan for legal services that he said will save the city up to $70,000 a year without compromising the quality of its services, as reported in the Daily Gazette.
At its first meeting on Tuesday, January 4, the newly-elected council voted unanimously to ask Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen to call for a noncriminal grand jury investigation into the 2014 death of Darryl Mount Jr., the 21-year-old biracial man who died nine months after city police pursued him on foot.
COVID forced a cancellation of public ceremonies, but the new and returning members of the Saratoga Springs City Council and County Board of Supervisors were sworn in on schedule on Saturday, January 1 and the Council subsequently had its first meeting on Tuesday, January 4.
On January 1, 2022, the incoming Democrats in our city government took their oaths of office in the chambers of Judge Francine Vero in Saratoga Spring’s City Hall.
