Kim, who has been endorsed by the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee, chose the 9/11 Memorial in High Rock Park as a symbol of how Saratogians have always united as a community in times of crisis. He said his top priorities are building an Eastside public safety station; reimagining our police so there is accountability and transparency while creating new bonds among all of our first responders and all the citizens of our city; assisting businesses to reopen safely and remain viable when faced with unprecedented events; and harness Federal and State support to develop green policies that create a carbon neutral Saratoga Springs by 2030.
A deal struck by the involved parties and included in the state budget will keep money from gaming at Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady flowing to the owners and trainers of harness racing horses at the Saratoga harness track, according to the Daily Gazette. Under the deal announced April 6, Rivers will make about $1.8 million in payments for 2020, and going forward will pay a set percentage of slot machine revenue, in what Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner described as a good compromise.

Said State Chairman Jay S. Jacobs, the four “have not only violated their oath of office, they have disgraced the districts and state that they represent. These four have spent weeks and months delegitimizing our electoral process thereby undermining our faith in our democratic institutions. Yesterday, we saw the grave consequences of supporting such divisive and false claims. These Elected Officials do not deserve to hold office and represent New York. If you agree, please sign this petition demanding their resignation.”

The races were close, but Democratic candidates won both Senate seats in the Georgia runoff—meaning both houses of Congress will have a Dem majority! Thanks to the many local folks who wrote postcards, contributed to the Warnock and Ossoff campaigns directly or to Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight voter mobilization drive, and to the Schenectady Dems who traveled to Georgia to put boots on the ground in the cause of democracy and against fascism.
Absentee ballots have been tallied and Assemblywoman Woerner soundly cruised to victory in her bid for re-election, according to WNYT. After tallying absentee ballots in Saratoga County on November 10, if was clear that charter reform would not pass. SSDC Chair Sarah Burger was present for the count and indicates that the voters have spoken and it is time to move forward and focus on recruiting candidates for next year’s local election cycle, reports the Times-Union.…
